Sennheiser TCC2 provides contactless audio to the Francisco Marroquín University
TeamConnect Ceiling audio technology 2 of Sennheiser has been deployed to 52 classrooms and auditoriums of the Francisco Marroquín University of Guatemala, an academic reference in Latin America.
the Francisco Marroquín University of Guatemala (UFM) is considered one of the best in Latin America and a pioneer in giving opportunities to qualified and under-resourced students with the ITA scholarship program.
With the vision of having the latest technology to improve hybrid training in a pandemic situation, the IT and AV team of the university has completed the project of installation of a new professional audio system.
"We had to follow certain protocols and reduce the capacity of students in all our classrooms by distributing everyone in two groups of assistants in the classroom and remote," he explains. Victor Zetina, head of network infrastructure of the UFM-. In addition, we look for a way to simultaneously teach and support both groups effectively, offering live sessions where everyone could participate".
In order to turn the campus learning environment into a dynamic collaborative process and hybrid learning, the UFM team worked with Farei, specialist in the deployment of audio solutions.
"When the UFM team called us, we knew right away that beam formation microphone technology would be the right way forward, as it is one of the latest innovations of contactless audio and has really proven its value as an effective and hygienic AV solution in this time”, Says Fernando Falla, general manager of Farei.
Among other requirements, the UFM's top priority was to achieve a class experience as natural as possible, for both classroom and remote participants. This included crisp audio and the technical convenience of not having to pass microphones from one collaborator to another.
The solution to this demand has been the deployment of microphones Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC2) in 52 of their classrooms, as well as in several auditoriums of the faculty.
As he stresses Annie Falla "Sennheiser TCC2 has completely revolutionized connectivity and communication at conferences, meeting rooms and virtual situations by offering extremely clear audio. In addition, you don't need to think about things like RF interference or worry about microphone hygiene thanks to its contactless audio..
Along with high sound quality and easy installation, the cost of TCC2 was another competitive advantage over other available solutions: "We compared it with other devices on the market and TCC2 was the one that convinced us the most for the way it works and also for its price", Remember Victor Zetina.
The main part of the project was to adapt the classrooms to be completely hybrid, which involved creating different scenarios for different types of classrooms and determining the best environment and microphone coverage for each.
This indicates Elder of Leon, Farei AV technical installer: "since each room has a unique acoustics, we had to find a perfect place for TCC2 in each individual classroom, so that the voices of teachers and students could be perfectly captured no matter where they sit or even move in the room.".
Thanks to the latest TCC2 firmware update, which was presented last month in February, the team was able to make full use of the innovative feature TruVoicelift, as well as selecting five exclusion zones and one priority zone in each classroom.
"By defining different exclusion zones, not only can we eliminate unwanted noises, but also effectively stop the buildup of reflexes in the room.", explains Annie Falla.
In this project, Hernan Dominguez, Commercial Communication Manager for Latin America at Sennheiser, brand that sells in the Spanish market magnetron, has worked closely with the Farei team.
