In the new Horizon room of the HEC Lausanne has been installed a canvas Led six meters wide, configured with displays Leyard TVF 1,8 Mm, in which they are displayed up to 49 participants simultaneously.

The service Executive Education de la HEC Lausanne (UNIL) has opened its new Horizon room, that reproduces the experience of face-to-face teaching in the classroom. One of the main assets of this initiative is a six-meter-wide mural, made up of 60 Screens Leyard TVF.

This Led canvas, with a pixel pitch of 1,8 Mm, allows you to view up to 49 participants side by side and offers the possibility to simultaneously bring together students present on the site with participants from all over the world.

While the health crisis has accelerated the process, the idea of implementing an immersive teaching environment has been gaining ground for several years in the Executive Education department of the HEC Lausanne. This is because, above all, the growing demand for continuing education and, as a sustainable project, is part of HEC's internationalization strategy.

To carry out this project there were two key factors: that the TVF screens were manufactured in the production facility in Presov (Slovakia), which guaranteed a short delivery time; and cooperation with the integrator and project manager Projection Nouvelle.

Specially designed to reproduce the dynamics and interactivity in a face-to-face way, this room offers teachers an impression of immersion in the image of a classroom or an auditorium.

Stand up, in front of the screen Led Leyard of the series TVF of 10×6, speakers teach their classes and visualize up to 49 people at once. The recording, that is activated as soon as you enter the room, as well as the camera tracking system, allow teachers to focus exclusively on their lessons, without having to worry about the technical and audiovisual aspects.

“Thanks to the exhibition of all participants, it is possible to reproduce aspects normally reserved exclusively for the face-to-face mode, such as nonverbal communication or group dynamics”, comment Olivier Gallay, professor at HEC Lausanne.

The benefits of this experience also affect participants with a much more dynamic online teaching, natural and spontaneous, as Delphine Clavel testifies, Communication and Marketing consultant. "The technological device thus deployed has made it possible to guarantee the continuity of training without altering the quality of exchanges or the personalization of interactions between teachers and students".

In addition to the 49 online participants, there are some 20 physical places that offer the possibility of hybrid teaching. ” Thanks to this new infrastructure, it is possible to train local participants in person, whereas, simultaneously, brings together executives from around the world in virtual mode. The gains in terms of sustainability and travel costs are considerable”, explains Thomas Rouaud, project owner and head of Marketing for the Continuing Education department.
