Wingspan makes the difference with an avant-garde videowall Planar CarbonLight CLI
In the lobby of the event center Wingspan, wrapping an outer corner, has been installed a videowall Led planar CarbonLight CLI 10×4,8 metre, in configuration of 20×10 and a pixel pitch of 1,9 Mm (CLI1.9).
After years of construction and many more planning, Washington County has finished the new events and conference center Wingspan (WECC) in Hillsboro (Oregon), an installation that attracts attention from the same lobby that has a spectacular Led videowall Planar CarbonLight CLI.
This modern installation of 27.127 square meters is the centerpiece of a fair complex that includes 12.192 m2 of exhibition space, a conference centre 4.267 m2, a spacious lobby and multiple meeting rooms.
The WECC was created to offer new business opportunities in Washington County, by introducing conference spaces, events and meetings designed with high-end finishes and equipped with the latest technology. The site is designed to host fairs, corporate meetings and seminars, Banquets, charity events, festivals and sporting events, as well as community meetings.
During the initial design phases of the project, the county specified a videowall solution in the lobby of the WECC to provide the space with greater flexibility in terms of its use.
“El objetivo de este videowal era aumentar el valor del vestíbulo como espacio de alquiler y crear oportunidades para anunciar los diferentes tipos de eventos que se celebran”, comment Geoffrey Kavulya, director of the Washington County Capital Improvement Project,.
At one of the design meetings, suggested the concept of a screen that could wrap a wall. “Era una idea interesante y decidimos explorarla”, explains Kavulya. “Mandamos hacer un renderizado y, when we receive it, a todo el mundo le gustó su aspecto”.
Below, the county hired Planar to see if its concept was achievable from a construction standpoint. “Las conversaciones con la empresa nos permitieron conocer las nuevas tecnologías de visualización”, clarifies Kavulya. “Eso es lo que finalmente nos llevó a la opción Planar CarbonLight CLI Series”.
The technology integrator IES Communications installed a videowall Planar CarbonLight CLI Series of almost 10 meters wide and 4,8 high with a setting of 20×10 and a pixel pitch of 1,9 Mm (CLI1.9) which wraps an outer corner in the lobby of the WECC.
“No se ven estas esquinas externas envolventes muy a menudo, así que nos entusiasmó la oportunidad de trabajar en algo que no es una pieza cotidiana”, states Franklin Cooper, audiovisual designer of IES Communications.
Singularity factor
As a unique design feature, the surround videowall Planar CarbonLight CLI is fundamental to the strategy of the county to incorporate elements that make the facilities of the WECC more attractive as a space for events.
This videowall not only improves the way to use the lobby, but brings a unique character to the space that makes it more memorable. “El videowall es una atracción central del edificio: crea una experiencia que atrae a los posibles vendedores”.
Understanding that a captivating digital billboard will attract many eyes during events and conferences, the county plans to use the videowall Planar CarbonLight CLI Series as an asset to generate revenue through advertising.
The county worked with IES Communications and the content management systems provider Hypersign to develop custom signaling templates, that give users the flexibility to display content on each side of the installation or throughout the length of the videowall. “Dependiendo de lo que cada vendedor quiera mostrar y de cómo quiera presentarlo, tiene diferentes opciones para satisfacer sus necesidades”, said Kavulya.
When IES Communications performed the installation, the light construction of carbon fiber of the CarbonLight CLI series allowed them to integrate the screen without the need to make any structural modification in the videowall. Designed for rental and staging applications, the modularity and adaptable design of this Planar series are an advantage for permanent installations.
