Nexus at the Luxembourg theatre

The Theatre of Luxembourg Mierscher Kulturhaus has marked the restart of public performances with a complete renovation of sound reinforcement systems, with the installation of the line array nexus Geo.

Located in the centre of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Mierscher Kulturhaus is a theatre with capacity for 380-500 people and, now, it has the first nexo line array system in Luxembourg, designed and installed by lemon event support integrator and supplied by Audio-Technica Benelux.

The Mierscher Kulturhaus contacted Paul Thyes, of Lemon Event Support, after making the decision to upgrade its old point source public address system. The theater wanted to expand its technical capacity and was looking for a system that would allow it to host larger concerts and better serve its wide cultural offer of theater, dance, exhibitions, workshops and events.

As soon as COVID-19 restrictions allowed it, Thyes and his team put together a demonstration of the proposed solution, a medium-sized line array of nexo's Geo M series, inside the auditorium. The enclosure has a retractable seating system and a stage that can be lowered, transforming space. this meant that no audio equipment could be stacked on the ground. All components had to be flown, including subwoofer cabinets.

The choice for this project was a system of L/R arrays of 5 GEO M10 modules each, more 2 MSUB18 subwoofer per side, very low profile in the auditorium. Nexo's new P12 compact point source cabinets are used as front fillers for the first rows of the public.

Lemon Event Support's chief audio technician, Christophe Becker, explains how you have put two configurations on the Nexo NXAMP4x4Mk2 drivers/amplifiers, “that will work with the array equalizer to make the upper boxes pull a little further, and improve coverage when the stands retract and there are more people in the enclosure”.

The system has been networked with Dante, which means less wiring has been used and gives the room engineer an optimal way to monitor the system”.

“This is one of the three installations we have run in Luxembourg in the last year”, continues Paul Thyes. “Although we carry 11 years using Nexo cabinets, since Lemon Event Support was founded, recently we looked for a brand that could offer us a really modern line array design, supplied by companies with whom we could establish a long-term relationship".
