Christie's laser projection attracts visitors to the largest museum of astronomy
The newly opened Shanghai Museum of Astronomy exhibits spectacular audiovisual displays. For its realization, pandoras Box V8 and Widget Designer management solutions have been used. In addition, have been installed 40 laser projection equipment of Christie HS and GS series.
Christie's content management and laser projection solutions transport visitors through time and space in the newly opened Shanghai Museum of Astronomy. Located in the Lingang area of Shanghai, the structure of 38.000 square meters incorporates the considered largest museum in the world dedicated exclusively to the study of astronomy.
Designed by the American firm Ennead Architects and presents an exterior structure without the use of lines or right angles, a concept inspired by the orbits of celestial bodies and the geometry of the cosmos. instead, the three main architectural components of the building, the Oculus, the Dome Inverted and the Sphere, function as astronomical instruments that track the Sun, the Moon and the Stars.
The design extends to the interiors of the museum, where numerous exhibitions are driven by audiovisual technologies that provide an attractive and immersive experience to visitors.
These include spectacular projections achieved by more than 40 1DLP laser equipment of the HS and GS series Christie's brightness and variable image resolutions (ranging from 6.350 to 20.600 Lumens), along with real-time video playback and processing through the solutions Pandoras Box V8 and Widget Designer.
Partners Wincomn Technology and Zhongqing Yingye Group have been responsible for the installation and commissioning of all the projection tools in the museum. Marvel Vision, one of Christie's distributors for image processing and content management solutions in China, you have installed the Pandoras Box product suite.
"The Shanghai Museum of Astronomy marks a new milestone in the integration of science, nature and modern technology to provide an otherworldly experience for astronomy enthusiasts and the general public. Christie's content management and laser projection solutions offer an amazing experience, that allows visitors of all ages to explore the universe in greater detail and realism", Says April Qin, Sales Director of Christie's Enterprise Division in China.
The laser projectors of the HS and GS series have been deployed in 12 Galleries, in the three main exhibition areas entitled Home, Cosmos and Odyssey. Guide visitors on a tour of the solar system, distant galaxies and even black holes. The exhibits are also designed for a greater understanding of the history of astronomy and to inspire visitors to think about their future..
Among the highlights are the projections made on a huge rotating balloon of 20 meters in diameter in which seven laser projectors have been used D20WU-HS. In addition, interactive projections are displayed on a large wall of 60 meters in length using 10 laser projectors DWU1075-GS.
These Christie models have a brightness of 20.600 and 10.875 lumens respectively. Both are equipped with Christie BoldColor technology, that creates the color balance needed to accurately reproduce colorful images, without sacrificing brightness.
In another gallery, three laser projectors 4K7-HS make possible highly detailed images of celestial bodies with 4K UHD resolution and integrated Christie Twist for quick and easy configuration of multiple equipment.
In the exhibition area Odyssey, spectacular visual effects are achieved that are displayed in a 'cosmic thread', similar to a ribbon of 50 meters long. For this they have been installed 10 laser projectors DWU630-GS and Christie Pandoras Box V8 software, which comes with a number of new functionalities, a streamlined workflow and streamlined licensing. This license contains the complete Pandoras Box software package to deliver the high-level media processing performance required for various applications, including fixed installations, live events, theatres and other entertainment environments.
"Pandoras Box Version 8 is the ideal software solution for various applications, such as the multimedia exhibits of the Shanghai Museum of Astronomy", Explains Gary Wang, China Sales Representative of Christie's Enterprise Division. "With this version, a large number of images can be displayed on various surfaces, allowing content designers and developers to express their creativity and realize their visions at any time and with any hardware.".
