Carousel Cloud Encourages Communication at Bar Harbor School
The high school MIDIHS at Bar Harbor (Maine) has installed a digital signage solution based on Carousel Cloud to manage the content of the 63 screens located in classrooms and common areas.

This is the first time this school has relied on email and audio to keep staff and students informed.. The commitment to digital signage has allowed all members of the school immediate access to information that often changes rapidly..
"Our sound system was old and complicated to use.. We wanted to relieve teachers and students of intrusive audio ads that disrupted the learning environment.. We got to a point where they used to happen at four-minute intervals and digital signage was our best way to move forward.", says Mark Arnold, Director of Educational Technology at Mount Desert Island High School.
Mount Desert Island had worked with Jamf, a mobile device management company powered by Apple's expertise, for several years. As a partner of Carousel Digital Signage, recommended the use of Carousel Cloud as a platform to deliver digital signage content to devices Apple TV.
Jamf specializes in turning Apple TV devices into digital signage players, and Carousel Digital Signage offers a native iOS app to play digital signage content. Mount Desert Island High School also had TVs and Apple TV devices in its classrooms for educational purposes.. "We've installed TVs in classrooms for the past five years and have been testing alternatives to playing video messages on these screens from wired computers.", explains Arnold.
The center needed a system that offered a professional content management workflow, design templates and a simple and easy-to-use user interface.
Carousel Cloud enables main office staff, director and guidance create and contribute high quality content. "These are the people who really provide the important information to the entire school population., and Carousel Cloud makes it very effective for users of all levels", adds Arnold.
This initiative has enabled a change in the way students respond to information.. And it has spread to parents and the community at large., as the same digital signage content, which includes a video combination, graphics and text, is shared on social media.
"Emails are often not read and a small percentage visit our website regularly. Being able to reach students directly with important messages during school hours and then share that same content on social media means we're reaching a much larger population.. Students also share what they see on screens with their parents.", says Arnold.
