LG joins Kakao Mobility

The transparent OLED panels of LG Display will be installed at the six main entrances of the parking lot. The panels, configured to cover existing glass walls, provide amazing effects without compromising space or distracting visitors.

LG Display has partnered with Korean mobility platform company Kakao Mobility to build a smart parking lot in Seoul (Korea), which will be equipped with its screens Transparent OLEDs.

Through LG Display's transparent OLED technology, the two companies hope to create a parking service that provides customers with impactful visitor experiences.

Located in Seoul's busy Gangnam District, Trade Tower is a benchmark of the city with more than 40 millions of people who visit it every year.

LG Display's transparent OLED panels will be installed at the six main entrances of the parking lot leading to Trade Tower stores. The panels, that are configured to cover existing glass walls, provide amazing interior spatial effects without compromising space or distracting visitors.

People using the parking lot will be able to interact with these new screens and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment content. With the installation of these screens, these panels add a futuristic feel to a classic gas station.

LG Display has been using transparent OLED displays from 55 inches for commercial purposes from 2019. The self-emitting nature of the screen and the absence of backlight allow a transparency of the 40% along with a slim design, lightweight and flexible.

With transparent OLED screens already installed as shop windows and subway trains and in multiple forms of signage, LG Display plans to expand the role of this innovative panel display to important sectors such as autonomous cars, aircraft and even home furnishings in the future.

“LG Display will continue to redefine the concept of spatial design with its transparent OLED, by providing key information and entertaining content to passers-by”, explains Cho Min-Woo, director of LG Display's transparent OLED business.
