LEV Slaughterhouse 2021 adds new VR and digital video art projects

The third edition of the Madrid festival LEV Slaughterhouse, of the 23 to the 26 September, will offer unprecedented experiences in the field of AV creation and digital art, electronic music and virtual reality.

The festival of visual electronics and immersive experiences LEV Slaughterhouse has presented the programming of its third edition, to which it adds new proposals of virtual reality and a space for experimentation in digital environments.

A new section of audiovisual installations is presented for the first time in different spaces of Cineteca and Ships of the Spanish in Matadero, with projects by artists of the stature of the Canadian Martin Messier, the Austrian collective Total Refusal, the collaborative artistic collective Tundra, and the French duo Adrien M & Claire B.

The Ship will once again become the epicentre of virtual reality with the section Vortex, Vortex, among other artists, of the mythical English collective D-FusE, founded by Mike Faulkner, with the world premiere of two new pieces: Intersection, a journey of psychogeographic influence through the city of London, in collaboration with Observatory; and Endeka, a virtual reality experiment in which they move and remix 2D elements of one of their first animations in the 3D space.

You can also visit the universe in VR Planet LEV Slaughterhouse, a virtual artistic experience created by Children of Cyberspace and produced by Matadero Madrid and L.E.V. In it and on floating platforms you can see the exhibition of the sound and visual artist Shoeg (Carlos Martorell) Ecosystems @ORBIT, a series of virtual spaces composites from low-resolution 3D scans of natural elements, halfway between simulation and abstraction.

During the festival, participants in the open studio Ways Of InteXRaction, (prior registration on the MediaLab Prado website), located in El Taller de Matadero, discover different interaction systems and technological tools, as the Kinect camera, glasses Oculus Quest, the system HTC and the one recently developed in Barcelona, Chordata.

In collaboration with Medialab Prado and within the framework of Planet LEV Matadero, this edition will create a space for meeting and experimentation for artists and collectives working in the field of virtual reality, where participants will be able to discover first-hand different sInteraction systems in digital environments.

The section Augmented City will present in the outdoor space of Matadero the experience Fauna by Adrien M & Claire B and the designer collective Brest Brest Brest, in which, through an augmented reality application, wildlife hidden in the walls of the contemporary creation center is shown.

Incorporated in the image of this edition of the festival is also presented the work of Lola Zoido: a filter in augmented reality that explores the phenomenon selfie from visual arts and technology, available soon for all users on the Instagram profile of LEV Matadero.

In addition, the festival recovers its musical program with concerts and Performances Audiovisual in Cineteca of great references and new national and international talents.
