Allen & Heath performs the most important update of the dLive digital mixing system
Attending to user feedback, in its version 1.9, Allen & Heath has multiplied the possibilities of its dLive mixing system.
Allen & Heath dLive V1.9 is the most important firmware update performed to date of this mixing system. It has been conceived taking into account the comments and suggestions of engineers from all over the world, dedicated to live sound, recording, streaming and installation.
"With more than 45 features requested by users and numerous improvements, dLive 1.9 is our most important update to date" explains Jack Kenyon, product specialist at Allen & Heath. "We have customers who use it in any application imaginable and this update brings something very useful for each of them.. With a plethora of new sonic tools and an accelerated workflow, dLive raises the bar again for other console manufacturers”.
New features include powerful sonogram and RTA tools, DEEP compressor and expander models, a PEQ option of 12 mixing bands and integration for wireless systems Sennheiser.
Comprehensive overhaul of dLive's RTA engine offers new options for sound analysis.
Two RTAs are now available, with dual surface applications, capable of using standalone RTAs. Display is no longer limited to a bar display 31 Bands; a new online display and sonogram are available, the latter with the ability to show the differences between RTAs for system tuning. Fundamentally, bar and line visualizations can be displayed below the PEQ curve, allowing engineers to make quick equalization decisions.
To provide the engineer with a complete picture, new RTA tools can always be visible, either on a specific screen, on the PEQ screen and widget, on a specific RTA widget or external monitor.
dLive's arsenal of zero-latency DEEP processing tools is greatly reinforced in V1.9 with multiple additions. Two expanders offer higher gain before acoustic feedback is achieved and improve audio separation in live applications.
Source Expander offers faster and simpler control to allow 'adjust it and forget it' type handling, while Dual Threshold Expander is available for complex environments where much more specialized adjustment is required.
Bus, a new compressor, is based on a legendary hardware unit known for its ability to compact mixtures, and the OptTronik compressor has been expanded to include a new model that provides an alternative character to classic compression.
Engineers working with IEM mixes will be pleased with the addition of NEQ12, a parametric EQ of 12 bands with high-pass filters / selectable bass that can replace the GEQ in any of the 64 dLive mixing outputs.
Wireless integration has been opened to include Sennheiser wireless microphones 300/500, 2000 and 2050, that can be monitored from the dLive surface or from the Director software.
The key wireless information, including muteness, signal level and battery levels, is visible from the bench screen, with detailed information and control accessible through the Preamp tab.
"The integration of the Evolution wireless microphones of the series 300, 500 and 2000 with dLive makes it easy for sound engineers to work, which is exactly what you are looking for in a stressful situation", Says Tom Vollmers, responsible for the professional catalogue at Sennheiser.
V1.9's feature list also includes the ability to share preamp with automatic gain tracking across multiple dLive systems, LCR mode + Main with divergence control, screen markers, new display widgets, and much more.
