NanoLumens at Fulton Central Library

In the Fulton Central Library a four-sided Led tower has been installed that reflects its sculptural form. A project that encompasses 8,5 meters of dvLED Performance screens of less than 4 Mm.

In the heart of the city is the modern Fulton County Central Library in Atlanta. A building in which a canopy has been installed, configured with screens NanoLumens dvLED Performance, and whose objective is to achieve a great visual impact. Designed by architects Marcel Breuer and Hamilton Smith, imitates the style used in the Whitney Museum in New York. It has ten levels and is composed of robust forms that offer a sculptural architectural form.

NanoLumens took the marquee concept from architect Ron White and worked with Capital Signs to carry out the integration and structural design of the canopy.

Several challenges were raised in this project, starting with the signal infrastructure that is located at 9 meters underground.

"The structure, along with the intricate stone that was imported from Spain, made it an even greater challenge. Together with NanoLumens we were able to improve the visual impact of the Fulton Library”, Said Andy Panos, Vice President of Capital Signs.

For NanoLumens, this project required betting on its portfolio of products for outdoors. "For its execution we developed a method to divide the system into components and build a custom framework to meet the design requirements.”, adds Panos.

The team of AEC-SPG and NanoLumens R&D devised a topology with the ability to make an outdoor screen of pronounced corners. "It's not something exclusive to Nanolumens., but we have been able to find a suitable topology in a short time for this project. We now have this capability across the board using components from our Performance series of dvLED products.", clarifies Dan Rossborough, Director of Strategic Projects at NanoLumens.

Challenging projects are a great way to test the rapid deployment of innovative solutions. The Central Library project tested the capabilities of NanoLumens Performance series dvLED products and used a new structure for future outdoor projects..

The multimedia tower has four faces and spans 8,5 meters high by 2 meters wide, and is composed of performance series dvLED of less than 4 Mm. Specialized for flat surfaces and optimized for gloss, Performancede Series corner displays integrate seamlessly into existing architecture and are designed to enhance and energize outdoor environments.

The Central Library incorporates dvLED and high-resolution content on all four sides of an impressive canopy that evokes the architectural style of the building.

“NanoLumens engineers are the best. His attention to detail really helped achieve success in this project.. Together we were able to improve the visual impact of the Fulton Library”, Andy Panos, Vice President of Capital Signs.
