Munich's Gärtnerplatztheater theatre immerses itself in IP audio with Lawo mc256

The IP audio technology of Lawo is already part of the theater's workflows Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz from Munich.

Two consoles Lawo mc256 (MKIII) with 48 faders and motor A__UHD serve as cornerstones of the new configuration of the Gärtnerplatztheater. I/O connectivity is covered across multiple AoIP nodes A__line, in addition to the lawo Dallis previously installed. Lawo's IP audio solutions are already part of this theater.

Digitech, Bavarian system integrator, acted as general contractor for the design, implementation and integration of new technology, which was installed in August and completed in September 2021.

The Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has been relying on Lawo solutions since 2007, date on which two digital mixing consoles were installed mc²66 in the auditorium and sound control room, recently replaced by the above-mentioned tables.

On the other hand, I/O systems Dallis existing ones are integrated into the network through a router core Nova73 Hd, with additional connectivity across nodes A__stage AoIP with WAN capability. This flexible approach allows you to continue using existing technology within new workflows, enabling a gradual transition to a full IP infrastructure. Looking ahead to the season of 2022, a software update is planned to A__UHD Core (phase 2) to facilitate future expansion of IP infrastructure.

Dirk Buttgereit, head of the theatre's sound department, explains the keys to the upgrade. "We opted for a combination of existing equipment and new hardware and software., a perfect solution because of existing hardware, especially analogue/digital conversion systems, they are still in an impeccable state".

According to Buttgereit, the future of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz lies in taking advantage of all IP functionalities. "This first step allows us to leverage an IP infrastructure and apply new features and workflows., with cinema-specific features such as cue lists, iso sets, fade sets and DSP pooling through the core A__UHD.
