Audio-Technica BP898 and BP899: new condenser flap microphones
The BP898 and BP899 models of Audio-Technica, replacing at898 and AT899 microphones, are available in terminations for wired or wireless use, adapting to the range of lapel microphone applications.
The microphone of cardioid flap low-key BP898 and that of omnidirectional flap Subminiature BP899 you just filed Audio-Technica offer a wide dynamic range and tolerance to high sound pressure levels that ensure intelligible and natural audio.
These features, next to its low-profile design (hardly 5,3 mm diameter) make them suitable for use by lecturers and in theatre applications, TV or cult, with minimal visibility.
The BP898 is available in five versions with black finish, all of them with permanently connected cables and different termination and power configurations. The options of the BP899 model only vary in its finish, in both black and beige ‘theater’.
When you need a directional microphones closely the most recommended option is the BP898 model with cardioid capsule, whose directionality has a pronounced proximity effect when used up close, enhancing the user's voice.
If it is necessary to use the microphone at a greater distance or a less focused capture is desired, BP899 model with omnidirectional capsule recommended, which features an open diaphragm design for maximum frequency response with a protective mesh (that repels sweat, humidity,...) and long-lasting performance.
This model also has a resonance cap that can be applied to the microphone to achieve greater intelligibility and to ward off sweat and moisture..
Based on the performance of existing AT898 and AT899 lapel microphones, the new BP898 and BP899, available next December, offer a higher quality in the construction of the cable: of urethane elastomer with a double spiral shielding thread, that provides more flexibility, strength and resistance to abrasion and moisture, and the cable signal line employs a CuSn alloy (copper and tin) highly durable that improves corrosion resistance.
To this are added improved connectors that better reduce humidity; a clamp included (with sixteen 360° angle settings) and two voltage relief points to facilitate cable routing and isolate it from mechanical noise, as well as two new windproofs that fit into the microphone, each with a clasp that keeps it fixed to the microphone.
The microphone capsules are mounted on a robust metal housing to protect electronic circuits from external electromagnetic noise. Both microphones are RoHS compliant.
