Audinate acquires Silex Insight's video business
With the purchase of the video area of the Belgian company Silex Insight, Audinate strengthens its position in the audiovisual ecosystem.
Acquisition covers a wide range of AV-over-IP products, Including IP cores or the plate Viper, as well as three Silex implementations of video codecs: Colibri, jpeg 2000 and VC-2 HQ. Audinate, which will integrate a team of eight engineers with extensive experience in video implementation, remains committed to supporting Silex's current products and customers.
"Since the development of our first Dante AV product, we are committed to bringing Dante's simplicity and interoperability to the video over IP market. With this acquisition, we are redoubling that strategy. The team's video codecs and product expertise, in combination with our Dante network technology, will allow us to go to market with a variety of full-service offerings", Explains Aidan Williams, co-founder and CEO of Audinate.
The proposed transaction is a spin-off of Silex's video business, that will retain its current security activity, and the 31 January 2022.
With this acquisition, Audinate aims to "accelerate its strategic vision" of audio and video over IP integration. Similarly,, the company seeks to "add breadth and depth" to its AV over IP product line. At last, the transaction will increase FPGA expertise within the company and consolidate its video engineering team in Europe.
