Disguise technology manages Turner Sports' 270º hybrid studio
Created for the coverage of TNT of the NHL Hockey League and managed by Turner Sports, this new 270º hybrid set has four servers disguise vx 2 and five rx II rendering nodes.
With a management contract for the next three years by Turner Sports, solution provider certified by disguise, the new hybrid studio was built in late summer and in record time, in collaboration with the Atlanta-based creative studio (Us.) Meptik.
The decoration of the studio fits the style of TNT and modern stadiums, equipped with huge screens and lighting effects, although the oval shape of the set, which reflects that of an ice rink, indicates that the content offered will be intended for hockey.
This new hybrid studio combines nine Projectors, two curved Led videowall custom built and multiple cameras in a single workflow. To this is added a diagonal display, also with Led technology, and two large tracking monitors in its foreground, which provides flexibility for presenters to communicate from different positions on the set.
To boost this equipment, four media servers disguise vx 2 and five rx II rendering nodes are in charge of the immersive 270º visual content (video, images and data) are integrated into the scenography through the systems of this manufacturer.
In this project, disguise created the visual montage of the 3D scenography before the studio was built, which streamlined its start-up once the integration was completed.
So he explains Gideon Ferber, disguise product manager for the broadcast area: “it was absolutely crucial to be able to preview the study, as there was no time to do tests during its construction. The studio was launched a week before the release date, so the possibility of foreseeing the entire assembly and appearance of the content, and then incorporate the animations and graphics, it was essential".
parallel, both disguise and Meptik formed Turner Sports' in-house production team in the use of the workflow of disguise for emissions, so that producers, Creative, engineers and operators had the necessary skills to carry out their respective functions within the TNT ecosystem.
Phil Ventre, Vp. of the broadcast area of disguise, ensures that “we've provided Turner Sports with a blank canvas for creatives to tell their best stories and engage the audience. We are very proud to have been able to carry out this project in such a short time and to make it a success".
