Planar at Ronald Reagan Institute Washington DCThe mission of the Ronald Reagan Institute in Washington DC is to preserve the legacy of the president whose name the center is named and to proactively promote his ideals., his vision and example of leadership through youth education and academic partnerships, academic work and substantive thematic forums.

The Reagan Institute recognizes the importance of technology in achieving that mission and, therefore, when moved to a new location in Black Lives Matter Plaza, near the White House, Led display technology played a prominent role in the design of the new office.

“Our foundation had ambitious goals for the Reagan Institute.. We wanted the best technology and the best design to maximize the experience of anyone setting foot at the Reagan Institute.”, Says Roger Zakheim, director of the Institute.

The technology consultant Cerami developed a complete audiovisual design for the facilities and partnered with integrator Design & Integration (DI) to offer a turnkey technological solution. State-of-the-art equipment and visualization systems were installed, among which the Planar Led videowall stands out.

Two-story Led wall

The central attraction of the new Reagan Institute is a Led videowall, located in the lobby on the ground floor, almost one meter wide by half a meter high each, configured with a Planar solution of the TVF series that presents a pixel pitch of 1,8 Mm (TVF1.8).

Visible from the street, the video wall offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about Ronald Reagan. Using an interactive touchpad connected to this large screen, the public can explore a series of contents about the fortieth president, as images, videos and sequences of your mandate.

As he explains Brad Phipps, Director of Field Operations at DI, the intention of the Led videowall is to promote the vision of the Reagan Institute.”It is designed to invite people walking down the street to enter the building and learn about the president's legacy through an easy-to-use and highly immersive experience.”.

DI, who also acted as content developer of this project, worked with images from the time of 1980. “Our content team continues to actively work with the Reagan Institute to create in-house content, which are then sent through a network connection directly to a content player at the Institute and to the video wall”, clarifies Phipps.

Versatile technology also on the second floor

On the second floor, the Reagan Institute has built a multipurpose room equipped with updated technology that includes a live production room, a videoconferencing system and two Led videowalls of the TVF series of Planar, each of them of almost 3 meters wide and 1,5 meters high with a pixel pitch of 1,5 Mm (TVF1.5).

The room is designed with a stage and a podium and, supported by technology and systems, is designed as a flexible space to host different activities, as forums, live streams, streaming and all kinds of events, both face-to-face and virtual.

Phipps highlights the versatility of the Led videowall of the TVF series of Planar, both for its uses and for its potential to fit into different spaces. “From the architectural point of view, its aesthetic quality makes it look seamless. The elements that accompany it and the way it is integrated make it a great end product.”.
