The University of Montana renews its conference rooms with Planar TVF

The installation carried out in the University of Montana includes two videowall configured with systems planar TVF and a pixel pitch of 1,8 Mm (TVF1.8), one of 16,5 metre, in a configuration of 9×9, and another 10 metre, in 7×7.

Established in 1893 and located in Missoula, the University of Montana (UM) is a public research institution. On the main campus, facilities include two large conference rooms: Urey of 400 seats (the largest in U-M) and, located in front of a shared lobby, North Underground, with the capacity to 251 people.

Both spaces had remained virtually unchanged since their construction and needed technological upgrades to raise them to levels that would fit current higher education expectations.. With this objective they have been renewed with a new design, lighting, seating and acoustic improvements.

Among the new improvements is the incorporation of Led technology to design fine pitch videowalls with systems Planar TVF.

Integrated by Silver Stream Audio Visual, a division of Alter Enterprise, facilities include videowall of 5.5×3 metre, in a configuration of 9×9 at Urey Lecture Hall, and another of 4.3×2,4 metre, in 7×7 in the North Underground conference room. Both have a pixel pitch of 1,8 Mm (TVF1.8).

Led Technology on Campus

At the beginning of this project, the Chief Information Officer of the University of Montana, Zach Rossmiller, assigned the Director of Infrastructure, Scott Holgate and a team of experts in classroom technology to find visual technology solutions for these frequently used spaces.

Compared to projection equipment previously used in rooms, The Led Wall Planar TVF provide clear visibility from all strategic points of the conference rooms,

After installing the videowall, Silver Stream Audio Visual re-signed another contract to help set up control equipment and cameras, That which, combined with the Led equipment of the TVF series of Planar, allows the university to adopt a more hybrid type of learning environment.

In addition to teaching classes, conferences, presentations and other academic activities, the university plans to use these Led visual supports to host different types of events.

“Queremos tener noches de cine, parties to watch sports and similar uses that we haven't had a chance to explore yet. Our event staff also has the ability to rent the rooms to external organizations, which could provide a new source of income", clarifies Holgate.
