Corning creates a collaborative, connected environment with Crestron technology
To respond to the requirements at the headquarters of Corning Optical Communications has installed a robust AV platform based on Crestron, which handles all content distribution and video conferencing needs.
The solutions of Crestron have helped Corning Optical Communications to drive a more connected workplace, that will be able to grow along with the changing needs of the division in the coming years. With a future-proof network and technological solutions that facilitate meetings, has designed a space that adapts to employees.
Corning is a Fortune List company 500 with a trajectory of 168 years. He has combined his experience in glass science, of ceramics and optical physics with deep manufacturing and engineering capabilities to develop life-changing innovations.
How Corning's business continues to grow, Optical Communications has become the largest division of the company, providing a wide range of end-to-end fiber and wireless solutions for communications networks.
recently, Corning has moved this optical communications division to its headquarters in Charlotte (North Carolina). In the new facilities of 54.864 square meters, wanted to implement a wireless approach with 1.100 net drops above the roof to create a clean design throughout the building. In addition, wanted to design an audiovisual infrastructure that would enhance the employees' work experience and complement the modern architecture of the building.
To meet these requirements, a solid AV platform based on Crestron technology has been installed.. It handles all content distribution and video conferencing needs at Corning Optical Communications headquarters.
Technology DM NVX AV-over-IP was the solution of choice for its ability to adapt to a fiber architecture and be able to connect directly to the Corning network. more than 170 DM NVX units across corning's office direct content distribution to the digital signage platform, conference room screens and a video array.
With DM NVX, Corning executives can enter any room and use the video array to stream content to the rest of the building.
“DM NVX has provided us with a solution that works for this generation and future, without having to put another cable back into the building”, says Robert Basile, Senior Solutions Architect at Corning Optical Communications.
Collaborative environment with Flex UC and AirMedia
To create a highly collaborative work environment, Corning deployed the solutions Crestron Flex UC and wireless presentation technology AirMedia 2.0.
with 100 AirMedia locations, employees can connect and present wirelessly with ease. “Crestron AirMedia has transformed the way employees interact with technology during meetings”, clarifies Basile. “I haven't yet seen any employees physically connect to a system. Everyone connects to IPs “.
Meetings between different Corning teams can take place within the same building, but in two different rooms. This is why, it was important to have a reliable system that could put it all together, for both internal and external video conferencing. The Unique Shape of the Crestron Desktop Conferencing Appliance Mercury is attractive and discreet, which made it perfect for placing on the tables of the conference rooms.
There are more than 60 touch screens Crestron TSW located inside the meeting rooms throughout the building. An intuitive user interface makes media control and meeting scheduling easy to use.
Touch screens are wall-mounted, creating an infrastructure that fits with the design of the office. Crestron's room scheduling deployment includes 70 touch screens that allow employees to locate available meeting rooms and book them on the spot.
