Singapore Parliament elects Lawo AoIP for its audio infrastructures
The installation of Lawo in the Parliament of Singapore includes a compact audio console of 32 faders mc²36MkII, powered by native IP A-UHD technology, with A-stage48 and A-stage64 AoIP nodes integrated into the system as stage boxes.
Parliaments around the world have relied on audio-over-IP technology from Lawo for your critical audio infrastructures. The last to choose the manufacturer's solutions has been the Parliament of Singapore, which has recently executed a major technical update in its broadcast facilities.
For this project a compact audio console of 32 Faders mc²36MkII by Lawo, fed by the native IP A-UHD technology, with nodes A-stage48 and A-stage64 AoIP integrated into the system as stage boxes
These products, based on standards, are compatible with ST2110-30/31, as well as with Ravenna/AES67 AoIP, and provide fail-safe redundant operation using the standard SMPTE2022-7.
Based on the Home management platform of Lawo for multimedia infrastructures in IP, and built natively on a cloud-ready microservices architecture, this installation allows users to connect, manage and secure network configurations, with centralized access and control of all connected equipment from the manufacturer.
A key element for singapore's Parliament is security, for which Home provides a variety of strategies, such as quarantine of unknown devices. Only after being deliberately approved through an intuitive routine based on IEEE802.1X, connected devices can start exchanging signals within the Home network.
To provide greater security, this platform uses an authentication strategy based on a centralized user management system, with dedicated user roles and groups.
A primary consideration during the modernization project was to ensure that the audio mixing system offered great flexibility and could be integrated into a remote production infrastructure..
Configurations that integrate in distant locations have become especially important during the pandemic to practice safe social distancing during parliamentary work routines..
Technical specifications and ease of connection to MediaCorp, Singapore's National Media Network, were instrumental in the purchase and installation of the Lawo mc²36MkII console as a central element of the parliament's audio infrastructure.
Lawo's choice of technology adds to those recently adopted by the television and radio channels of national parliaments around the world.. Including, the television audio infrastructure of the German Parliament, the radio of the Parliament of Thailand, the Israeli Knesset and the European Parliament's huge audio and video over IP infrastructure in Brussels and Strasbourg.
Given that the Singapore Parliament project was carried out during the pandemic, training and configuration support was done with remote sessions. Frank Mosch, by Lawo, led the pre-project technical decisions for MediaCorp and the system integrator Broadcast Communications International could finalize system design and interconnectivity in a seamless, unified workflow.
Training during installation and completion of the project, including assistance in making small adjustments to the system during testing and control, it was also done remotely. The singapore Parliament's draft took place between October and Christmas 2021, and Lawo's new issuance infrastructure was successfully realized in early January of 2022.
"We are proud and honoured by the trust that the Singapore Parliament has placed in our products and solutions for this important modernisation.: the introduction of IP technology using our broadcast equipment", has pointed out affirms Boon Siong Tan, Lawo Sales Director for APAC.
