APG speakers provide full power to the Morex Custom motorcycle shop
A series-based system APG iX performs a dual function in setting Morex Custom House. Combine the shopping experience with a bar/restaurant where food is offered, drinks and live DJ sessions.
A complete audio system APG iX brings the soundtrack to a new hybrid space of shop and hospitality of the French motorcycling brand, automotive, surfing and fashion Morex Custom House.
Located on the outskirts of Rennes, this local of 450 m² includes a bar/restaurant and a shop designed to showcase the best the brand can offer. Motorcycles and custom cars feature prominently in both the bar area and the boutique shop., where customers can also purchase clothes, accessories, custom motorcycle helmets and surfboards.
Given the brand's association with the roar of the road and the sea, it was crucial that the new venue had a powerful and versatile sound system, according to Kévin Morel, co-founder of Morex Custom. “The sound environment in a place like ours is very important. Our customers have to feel the music and enjoy it. Acoustics for the customer's shopping experience is very important”.
To make this vision a reality, local system integrator Ingénierie Scénique et Audiovisuelle (ISA) -whose parent company, Groupe Sonowest, is an APG partner- specified a configuration that included compact iX series coaxial speakers from the French manufacturer, as well as its compact subwoofer SB115-M2.
The advantages of this system, which includes the models iX6 (6.5 controller″) E iX8 (8 driver″), are multiple, according to Mathias Collin, ISA works supervisor, which praises the “ease of integration, high efficiency, small size and visual appeal, simple but effective APG speakers”.
For Morex Custom, it was essential that the speaker system was able to handle a number of applications, a strong point of the iX range, that is as comfortable in a large entertainment venue or convention center as in a club, bar or restaurant. “The important thing for us was to have a powerful but pleasant sound., so that our customers can talk without shouting”, explains Morel, which adds that the sound system also had to offer “enough power to accommodate more festive occasions and DJ sessions”.
Customer specifications also included audio zoning with independent level management, that was made with the software ArmoniaPlus of Powersoft. The user can manage the zones, including the volume of each area, via a wireless touchscreen interface connected to a digital array Yamaha MTX.
ISA also turned to Powersoft for the amplifiers used in the installation.: one Ottocanali 4K4 DSP+D of eight channels and a Duecanali 804 DSP+D two-channel. Both came recommended by APG, which has developed specific amplifier presets for its speakers.
Morex Custom is impressed with the installation, to the point that it is studying how to extend the audio system to the outside, where a landscaped terrace with trees will become an exterior space of obligatory visit when the good weather approaches: “The customer is very happy with the sound inside the bar and is studying the possibility of equipping the exterior of the Morex House with APG speakers to have an equal and constant sound quality everywhere.”, mathias concludes.
“Customer experience in retail and hospitality has become paramount in the last two years., with stores like Morex Custom House serving as destinations that go beyond the traditional retail environment”, says APG Sales Engineer Alexis Reymond. “With high-quality transducers and innovative technology No Diffraction Baffle (NDB) that provides superior sound in a compact size, our iX Series speakers are perfectly suited to these types of premium and next-generation retail destinations.”
