Barco screening immerses visitors in the history of Ukiyo-e art
The exhibition "The floating world of dreams" held in Shanghai uses 50 Projectors ship of the G60 series to reproduce representative Ukiyo-e paintings dynamically, making visitors feel as if they are inside the scene.
Shanghai has hosted the largest art exhibition Ukiyo-e held to date. Under the name “The floating world of dreams”, this sample has been made on a surface of some 2.300 square meters in which they are exhibited 150 famous paintings. To immerse visitors in this immersive experience, projection technology has been used ship.
The exhibition has been designed to engage the senses through digital light and shadow shows, music, aromatherapy with incense and tea shows.
Ukiyo-e is a wood engraving, popular in the Edo period in Japan. These classical works not only directly influenced the artistic achievements of the international Impressionist masters., as Van Gogh and Monet, they have also continued to enjoy great popularity and have exerted a strong influence on renowned modern Japanese artists., as Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara.

Thanks to 5D scene adjustment technology, Barco's G60 series projectors make the design team's concept a reality with excellent image quality, accurate color and brightness.
The exhibition hall of “Ukiyo-e Dreamland” has an area of some 1.500 square meters. Twenty Barco Projectors G60-W10 and ten G60-W7 form a three-dimensional projection canvas on the wall and floor to dynamically present many famous classic works by Ukiyo-e, how “The Great Wave of Kanagawa” and “The Love of Things“.
In the exhibition hall “Landscape in the light of the moon“, sixteen Barco G60-W7 projectors integrate a rich variety of natural landscapes such as snow and cherry blossoms, creating an immersive experience under Mount Fuji. The shocking sight of the waves crashing on the face and the cherry blossoms is a hit for many tourists.
In addition to immersive spaces, the exhibition also shows original works. To enrich the experience, G60 projectors add an extra layer of dynamic projections, how, For example, the skeleton of the masterpiece of Utagawa Kuniyoshi “Soma's Negori” that comes to life outside the frame of the painting.
Immersive installation
The design team chose to adopt a two-machine overlay scheme with two projectors equipped in the same position to ensure stability during exposure and uniform coverage of the light path.. If there is a problem with one of the devices, the other can continue to function without affecting the presence of the image and the immersive experience.
How the exposure lasts several months, dozens of projectors have to work for a long time. So the stability of the projectors and the after-sales exchange service were key in the decision and choice of Barco by the exhibitor.
