Digital Projection dinamiza con mapping una calle comercial de Bournemouth
LCI Productions has created the projection mapping show to revitalize, touristically and commercially, this English coastal area. The M-Vision laser projector 23000 of Digital Projection, along with a player BrightSign XT1144 and outdoor speakers Adastra BP6V-B make up this permanent installation.
When it comes to commercially and touristically revitalizing the main street of a locality, it takes a little ingenuity and creativity to surprise and attract buyers and visitors again.. This has been the challenge of the initiative carried out to Boscombe, a small town in the South of the United Kingdom, outside Bournemouth.
The solution has come with the help of technology, with an eye-catching projection mapping experience, thanks to the initiative of Bournemouth Coastal BID, in partnership with Bournemouth Towns Fund, with the aim of increasing the number of people visiting this English coastal city out of season, persuade them to stay longer and encourage tourists and locals to learn more about the area and the commercial and restaurant offer it offers.
As he explains Fiona McArthur, Operations Manager, Bournemouth Coastal BID, "Boscombe is a peculiar area, with many local artists and a strong 'coffee culture'. This videomapping project meets all our attraction requirements for everyone, since we can also use it on special dates, like Christmas, Valentine's Day and to show what is happening in the city and initiatives with local artists".
While initially this organization, "in which we take care of many businesses in the area and are always looking for new and interesting things to do", he thought to place some striking murals "by not getting permission from the owners, we started researching in projection mapping projects, that brought more spectacularity and innovation to leave a legacy in Boscombe".
For this project they have had the specialist LCI Productions, whose design director, Rob Paul, that's how he explains it.: "We have created a visitor experience, similar to what you would expect to see in a theme park, with the combination of 3D images and immersive audio that immerses the audience in the scene. It's a fantastic initiative to encourage people to visit the local main street and see the show evolving., that will keep them coming back again and again and even having 'moments of selfie".
The system installed by LCI Productions is based on a permanent outdoor 3D projection mapping show on Boscombe's main street., on an area of 18×11 metre, for which a laser projector has been installed M-Vision 23000 manufacturer's Digital Projection with a media player BrightSign XT1144 to schedule daily content and manage its start and end.
To create a multisensory experience, projection mapping is completed with the installation of eight outdoor speakers Adastra BP6V-B, installed under the canopy of a nearby coffee shop, that "bring sound quality to the show, running on a 100V line, and a lower level to support the programs and a silent looping sequence so as not to cause inconvenience to residents and merchants.", adds Paul.
The audio system is also supported by an amplifier PA-500 of DAP Audio for additional sound reinforcement, to which is added an eight-port POE switch of Netgear and a mino 1U rackmount computer for the control of .
One of the challenges of the project has been to overcome several elements of urban furniture, like light poles, which was solved with the installation of the projector inside the Sovereign Shopping Center, in front of the mapping wall. The show is played daily and updated according to the time of year, dates marked, Events, Etc.
For Rob Paul, "this system is always there, so anything we or a local artist wants to try can be tried to create new content, adding effects, Etc. with projection mapping, in which we can include augmented reality, 3D holograms and more. It's not just a dynamic billboard, but we bring innovation and attractive and updated effects with Boscombe events".
LCI Productions continues to provide remote and technical support to maintain and update the contents of the installation and that the system is operational from the beginning of the programming in the afternoon-evening.
