Ricoh accelerates its transformation as a digital services company
The digital business of Ricoh has meant the 47% of its sales at the end of the fiscal year 2021, exceeding the turnover of its traditional activity. A strategy that will continue to increase and that is estimated to be located in the 60% in 2025.
Coinciding with its sponsorship of Mutua Madrid Open, that yesterday ended with the Spanish victory of Carlos Alcaraz in the Magic Box, Ricoh has presented the results of the fiscal year 2021, in which it has recorded sales of 311 million euros in Spain and Portugal, one 16% more than the previous year and matching the sales of 2019.
A highlight and in line with the company's strategy to be a benchmark in audiovisual integration and collaboration services in meeting rooms and workspaces, after the acquisition of DataVision and other companies, is that the 47% of sales corresponds to digital solutions, with respect to the 45% of the office printing area and the 8% of graphic communications.
the digital solutions of Ricoh are adapting to the new reality of Spanish companies, that has accelerated during the pandemic period with hybrid work and collaboration as the focus of its strategy, with the consequent deployment of videoconferencing platforms, room reservation systems and space redesign.
In this sense, the business that has grown the most has been everything related to digitalization: process automation, migration to the cloud, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and digital experience platforms. Yes in 2018 digital services barely exceeded the 20% of Ricoh's entire business, they are currently located in the 47%, and forecasts indicate that in 2025 the digital turnover exceeds the 60%.
Acquisitions have been one of the keys to expanding Ricoh's capabilities in the digital arena.. after IPM and Totalstor in 2019, this year Ricoh has integrated the Portuguese company into its group of subsidiaries Pamafe, that provides certifications in cloud solutions, IT infrastructure, security and technology for the digital workplace. At European level, the purchase of Axon Ivy will boost the area of process automation.
The future of work is hybrid
The return to the office has been a real challenge for organizations. The most traditional have returned in person, while one in four are already adopting new ways of working more agile and flexible, according to the last I am a student of Ricoh.
Companies have had to redesign their spaces to adjust them to a changing reality., adopt tools for room reservation and desks that guarantee safety and health at work and, above all, solutions collaboration to equip meeting spaces.
"Technology makes it possible to equate the experience of employees who work in person and those who telework. Although there are many advantages of people working in person in the same room, hybrid work is here to stay – Ensures Ramon Martin, CEO of Ricoh for Spain and Portugal (in the attached image)-. Investing now in hybrid and mixed forms is an investment in the future, as it will improve productivity and contribute to retaining talent".
Ricoh's evolution in this regard is to become a digital services company; a transformation that flags its new pan-European campaign Leading change at work. A change that unleashes human potential through technology, with modern workstations to help customers streamline processes and collaborate more efficiently, as well as accelerating business growth through powerful automation.
In this sense, during this year Ricoh has accompanied corporations such as Cellnex, Cuatrecasas or Caixabank to adopt new ways of working thanks to the comprehensive renovation of their offices and the implementation of collaboration technology, among others.
