Panasonic laser projection fosters the surrealism of painter Ivan Tovar
The exhibition of the Dominican artist Ivan Tovar, considered the maximum representative of surrealism in this country, shows his works through an immersive experience created with 32 laser projectors Panasonic PT-RZ790BEJ.
Ivan Tovar, living surrealism, initiative of the Ivan Tovar Foundation, is part of the new brand strategy of the Dominican Republic and is the first exhibition of global dimension of this country. With the help of the patron Hector Jose Rizek, the artist's dream of showing Dominican culture to the world becomes a reality.
For this project, the foundation chose the Spanish specialist BGL Audiovisual Engineering, company of the Sequoia Group, for its assembly and audiovisual integration, who has collaborated with Fluge Audiovisuals and Romera Infographic to create the idea and script of this immersive exhibition, counting on the creators of literary content Maria Castillo and Rene Brea (more data in Digital AV).
The installation is a commitment to new technologies and places special emphasis on audiovisual integration as a leading element, since Ivan Tovar, living surrealism is an immersive space in which the artist's imagination is projected through mapping techniques.
With the aim of achieving this immersive experience, Panasonic has installed 32 laser model projectors PT-RZ790BEJ, a team of 1 DLP chip with a power of 7.000 Lumens and resolution WUXGA, with lenses 16 ET-DLE020 and 16 ET-DLE060.
The exhibition collects approximately two hundred images between works, letters and photographs illustrating the artist's life and journey, so that the visitor can embark on a journey through the key moments of Ivan Tovar's life. All the paintings in the exhibition have been treated graphically with 2D and 3D techniques, to give them movement while maintaining their original textures.
The contents have been generated by a team of ten people, composed of designers, 2D animators and 2D/3D artists, combining the latest techniques without neglecting the artistic component. With more than 20K of horizontal resolution (25 millions of pixels) and 30 millions of pixels on the ground, has tried to reinterpret the artist's work to achieve the greatest immersion of the public in the universe of Tovar.
Jose Luis Carrasco, from Panasonic's marketing team, points out that "taking our technology around the world by collaborating with pioneering cultural institutions in their country, as the Ivan Tovar Foundation, it is a very rewarding challenge. Through our projectors we will continue to bet on the world of leisure, art and entertainment, fostering innovation at an international level".
On a technical level, the installation has been made by BGL Audiovisual, producer of the exhibition, and Fluge Audiovisuals, as supplier of the technical equipment of sound and video of the immersive installation.
for Fernando Carabias, in charge of the technical direction of projection of Fluge Audiovisuales, "in our task of doing the design and technical development of the project and installation, the biggest challenge was to provide us with a technology that projected the minimum of shadows on the walls so as not to dazzle visitors. Thanks to the reliability of Panasonic projectors, this was not an impediment.".
