ams Osram has reached an agreement to sell its entertainment lighting business from Claypaky to the German company ARRI.
Founded in 1976 and acquired by Osram in 2014, Claypaky is headquartered in Seriate (Italy) and is recognized as a reference supplier and brand in the high-end professional entertainment lighting market.
For ARRI, employees and the Clay Paky brand are "invaluable assets and key success factors", so the Italian firm will remain with its current configuration and staffing structure and locations. The same applies to ARRI, whose lighting division will remain as it is now.
The company has strengthened its technological leadership through LED and laser-based portfolio expansions, and offers an innovative offering of moving body and moving mirror projectors, Color Changers, followpots, Projectors and various lighting effects. Its technology has been used in shows, Most Renowned Events & Theaters.
ARRI is headquartered in Munich (Germany) and is a designer and manufacturer of camera and lighting systems, as well as solutions for the film industries, Broadcast & Media, with a worldwide distribution and service network. As Matthias Erb explains, CEO of ARRI “The acquisition of Claypaky is a long-term strategic investment in our lighting business”.
With this agreement, ams Osram implements the last of the divestitures that the company had communicated that it would pursue after the acquisition of Osram. It will continue to focus on the high-tech semiconductor business and the specialty and automotive lamp business.
The announcement represents a further milestone in the implementation of the company's strategy to focus on core technology areas in lighting, visualization and detection and divestment from businesses that aren't critical to your strategy.
