Zytronic has supplied to Evoke Creative y Worldline, leading companies in the self-service payment industries, an interactive touch screen for new ticket vending machines (TVM). Initially installed and tested by Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) in it London Gatwick Airport, The kiosks are being implemented in other stations of the UK rail network.

As one of the UK's busiest rail operators, GTR was looking for a TVM design with a great interface, full screen. Ensuring that users can choose and buy the right ticket for their route was an essential requirement. Faster checkout time facilitates faster passage for travelers heading to their next destination.

Combining Worldline's experience in payment solutions with Evoke Creative's knowledge in kiosk design, the new TVMs support the strategy The Williams-Schapps Plan for Rail to improve the ticket purchasing experience for rail transport users.

The surface area, large and easy to clean, It is made of one piece, elongated glass, what measures 80 diagonal inches, which protects the two large TVM screens and gives the kiosk a sleek look. The top screen is for travel information and other specific content; The bottom part is touch active to select and buy tickets.

Zytronic and its UK partner, Display Technology, were selected due to the manufacturer's ability to customize the projected capacitive touch sensors and meet customer requirements and specifications., along with its renowned reliability. Besides, The fact that Evoke was already very satisfied with the performance of Zytronic's touch technology in existing unattended ticketing kiosk applications was key.

Anti-vandalism protection

Since most of these TVMs are unsupervised, Its elongated surface is made of thermally tempered glass of 6 mm thickness, offering optimal resistance to vandalism.

The glass was custom machined and printed at Zytronic's UK manufacturing facility. It has two visible areas with only the interactive bottom touch screen, using technology ZyBrid Zytronic and multi-touch controller ZXY500.

Similar to the touch screen of a smartphone, TVM interactive area provides precise and fast touch response in milliseconds, allowing easy interaction with ticket purchasing software, even with gloves.
