UWTSD invests in immersive rooms for innovative interactive experience
This educational center has worked together with IDNS to create immersive spaces that offer engaging augmented and virtual reality experiences to foster learning.
The university Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has collaborated with different AV providers to create two immersive rooms that provide students with innovative learning spaces. Under funding, partly, of the Welsh Council for Higher Education (HEFCW), The university has worked with IDNS to install, at Carmarthen and Swansea campuses, the first learning spaces of its kind in Wales.
The rooms count, on three of its walls, with the most avant-garde Led screens of Samsung (two of 5,76 meters and one of 4,8 metre) to create a fully immersive virtual and augmented reality user experience.
These learning spaces allow students to experience the virtual reality, 360° videos and images and applications through immersive software Igloo Vision. This is a very effective way for many students to develop their knowledge and skills.. Provides digitally created artificial content and environments that accurately reproduce real-life scenarios so that new skills and techniques can be learned and honed.
Students are not simply passive bystanders; become active participants who directly influence outcomes. It also offers a safe and risk-free space where you can repeat what you have learned and measure success accurately..
"We know that experiential learning is sometimes less practical and accessible., And that's why we've invested in immersive learning spaces, to ensure that not only learning is lived, but that students are taken to the virtual worlds of their topics and challenges that they are likely to face.”, says the teacher Elena Rodriguez Falcon, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UWTSD.
"We are pleased to announce the opening of our two new immersive learning rooms this March.. Facilities that are equipped with 18 meters of Led screens, providing a total immersion experience for students. Whether it's virtual tours, Simulations or interactive lessons, The rooms will allow students to interact with the material in a new and exciting way.", Says Chris Rees, UWTSD Executive Director of Creativity and Digital Learning.
"The use of immersive technology, such as virtual and augmented reality, Allows students to explore and learn about topics and concepts that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to replicate in a traditional classroom”, clarifies Chris Rees.
The implementation of immersive spaces in education not only improves student engagement and motivation, it also allows them to experience and interact with the curriculum in a more meaningful way.. This approach allows for more hands-on, experiential learning., that research has shown to be more effective in promoting long-term information retention.
"Igloo Vision is proud to have worked together with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David., IDNS and Samsung to deliver the first immersive space in Wales. Using the immersive software of Igloo Vision and the latest Samsung Led technology, The space will offer engaging experiences for staff, students and visitors", Says Laura Mills by Igloo Vision.
"An immersive Igloo space is a bit like stepping into a giant VR headset., except you can put whole groups inside. This company designs and develops the technology that can make any space immersive. Any type of digital content, including immersive virtual reality, Videos and images of 360 ° and daily office tools, Can be shared with entire groups in one of these spaces, so the University of Wales Trinity Saint David has unlimited opportunities for what it can do with its immersive room.", adds Laura Mills.
Vicky Jennings, IDNS Technology Consultant, Says: "IDNS is proud to offer the first LED immersion space in Wales at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.. By offering the immersive space of 18 meters with the latest Samsung Led technology, Users will have a visual and sensory experience brought to life through unparalleled images and immaculate details.. This innovative development triggers a new era in collaboration and engagement at the university and attests to its forward-thinking approach to the use of digital technologies that enhance the learning experience.".
