Kramer at Universidad Insurbia

With the solutions of Kramer have been modernized 25 Classrooms, 5 conference rooms and 10 mobile studies. The analog system was replaced in its entirety, including cabling to support digital HDBT; while the kernel includes the installation of the VS-62DT 6 matrix switch×8.

The range of solutions Kramer has been installed in more than 40 Teaching spaces of the Universidad de Insubria -one of the main ones in Italy- to deliver seamless hybrid learning experiences across all three campuses.

With offices in Como and Varese (Italy), la Universidad de Insubria acoge a más de 12.000 students, 400 teachers and 320 Technical and administrative divided into seven departments.

After receiving funding from the Regional Council of Lombardy, The university partnered with Adicom Group and Kramer to create new and enhanced teaching experiences fully integrated across all three campuses, in order to help students both in class and at home.

With offices spread throughout the Insubria area (between Milan and Switzerland), The University has always relied on audio-video communication tools. before, remote meetings and training could be managed with systems such as Polycom, but with the arrival of a large number of users due to the pandemic, that went from 12 simultaneous connections to 250 Or more, These systems were renewed did not hold.

Kramer at Universidad Insurbia

Built for all eventualities, present and future, Kramer selected for the modernization of Insubria's learning spaces, that affected 25 Classrooms, 5 conference rooms and 10 mobile studies (used to record lectures).

The university's analog system was replaced in its entirety., including wiring to support Digital HDBT.

System core includes matrix switch installation VS-62DT 6×8 by Kramer, that has been implemented in all classrooms.

The VS-62DT provides 6 HDMI inputs that can be routed to HDMI outputs or HDBaseT, providing video streams (to 4K@60Hz) and long-range audio, for a better and more engaging experience.

Another specificity is HDBaseT transmission for all projectors, for which transmitters have been installed Kramer TP-583T and TP-583R 4K HDR. And in some classrooms, where there were several teams, HDMI output was used to be able to broadcast. Two long-range HDB extenders were chosen VM-2DT and four VM-4HDT 4K@60Hz, with HDBT lines dedicated and aimed at projectors.

Consistent quality

Compact eight control keyboards RC-208 buttons of Kramer have been selected to offer maximum simplicity, so that teachers interact with an identical and recognizable panel, combined with a consistent user experience, regardless of the room they are in.

“Our critical points were the lack of integration between new technologies and existing platforms.. For example, Teams made it difficult for remote students to interact transparently. It was difficult for the teacher and the students to hear each other intelligibly. But just as important., to ensure adoption, Ease of use was key, and that technology did not become a burden for the teacher”, comments Luca Mondini, Front and Back Office service and customer service of the University of Insubria.

“We connect all equipment with their respective management systems to dedicated VLAN networks and, below, we built a centralized server where we introduced Kramer's solutions for programming arrays and keyboards, So now everything works exactly as it should and I can control everything from one place.", continues Mondini

Andrea Fincato, AVC project manager of the Adicom Group, Adds: “The goal was to give teachers the opportunity, respecting their different ways of working, to use all devices: Classroom Chamber, Desktop camera, Laptop camera. In short, Everything they needed to offer them an audiovisual system that adapted to their habits and allowed them to teach hybrid classes.

Over the next five years, The University plans to continue with its goal of covering the 100%, Finishing the new auditorium and updating 10 Additional classrooms per year.
