Wartburg creates a portal of interactive experiences with Peerless-AV and Samsung
To design the interactive portal have been installed five videowall configured with 63 Screens Samsung UM55H-E 55 inch and SmartMount Full Service Quick Release SmartMount Video Wall Mounts DS-VW755S Peerless-AV.
In the house located at the foot of the Wartburg Castle There is the 'Casa del Chauffeur' that has been remodeled to turn it into a center of interactive experiences that offers the visitor information about the environment, The history and culture of the area. For this, a multimedia installation has been made based on the screens of Samsung and the supports of Peerless-AV.
Located on top of a mountain, about the city of Eisenach (Thuringia – Germany), Wartburg Castle is a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, Loaded with history and religion, and rich in medieval architecture. The name of the castle, built in the Middle Ages towards 1067, was the scene of the legendary Battle of the Bards, Immortalized in the opera Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner. It was also the home of St. Elizabeth., revered to this day, and served as a refuge for the exiled Martin Luther, which translated here the New Testament into German.
The Wartburg Museum is managed by the foundation of the same name, a non-profit-making entity governed by public law. Since its creation in 1922, It has the mission of preserving its artistic treasures as a cultural place of international rank and monument of German history, and to make them accessible to the public.
The foundation commissioned the system integrator inSynergie The project to transform the 'Chauffeur's House', at the foot of Wartburg Castle, in a portal of historical and cultural experiences for the public.
“The chauffeur's house, built in 1930, had been empty for several years. We wanted to breathe new life into the interior and exterior more attractive., including the way to and from the castle. We plan the complete renovation of the house, with a visitor experience portal as the centerpiece. For this multimedia exhibition element, we entrust inSynergie with the management of the project, including product procurement and installation”, Explains Franziska Nentwig, governor of the castle and board member of the Wartburg Foundation.
According to Christoph Hörsch, inSynergie Project Manager, The museum wanted to look to the future and decided on a digital format to maintain flexibility and be able to update the content with ease..
“An important goal was to maximize visual impact through thought-provoking, colorful images.. They chose a design setup for the exhibition that combines Dynamic Videowall with architecture, moving from classic nooks and crannies to angles with a modern twist. The challenge of the installation was to mount the digital screens on the recessed walls of the exhibition and also on a non-flat surface.. This meant that the mounting structure had to be adjustable.”.
This experience portal was funded by the State of Thuringia through ERDF funds and inSynergie managed the project and collaborated with the museum architects and content provider to find the right solution for the project..
I had worked with Peerless-AV in the past on projects such as the Buga Federal Garden Show in EGA facilities and specified the slim video wall mount SmartMount Full Service with quick release (DS-VW755S) to support displays Samsung UM55H-E of 55 Inch.
The DS-VW755S was the most suitable solution for this unique museum space. Designed for fast service access in embedded videowall applications, The support offers maximum versatility and is ideal for cases where the total depth of the videowall is a problem.
Bracket is easy to install, It can be mounted in portrait or landscape orientation and meets the UL2442 Safety Regulations, so it can be used safely in public environments. Eight-point tool-free micro-adjustment allows bracket to compensate for uneven walls, Creating a seamless videowall.
The installation of the brackets was simple, and fiber optic cables were laid from the technical rooms according to preliminary planning. However, before you can hang up the screens, had to make adjustments to mounting systems. “The old historic building is damp and the walls breathe. So, in the first phase of construction it was clear that the video walls would have to be readjusted and the micro-adjustment integrated into the Peerless AV supports was crucial in this case.”, Hörsch clarifies.
A total of 63 Samsung UM55H-E display units 55 inches in portrait format. The front videowall has a configuration 8×2, The two left sides are 2×2 and 3×2, The right is 6×2 and the rear videowall is 2×2.
A cladding has been placed around the video screens to give the impression that they fit naturally into the architecture of the building.; Old and new combine here. In addition, Coating can be easily removed to access displays and perform maintenance.
The experience portal encompasses 360 grades and has an interactive podium at its center. When a visitor touches one of the six figures on the podium, A new two-minute video sequence is activated, bringing the five video walls to life and immersing the visitor in a breathtaking world.
Each video tells a story, for example about the Wartburg car industry, that of the castle or gives impressions about the local culture and tourism. Multicolored Led ceiling lights, Dynamic and customizable, They also sync with content.
