Monterrey Airport Modernizes Digital Signage with Peerless-AV
Con la vista puesta en convertir este aeropuerto en el segundo centro de conexión internacional de México, A renovation project is being carried out that includes the implementation of different dvLED video wall installations. This has been set in motion by the Peerless-AV, Absen and POP MT.
Peerless-AV, in collaboration with Absen and POP Media Technology (POP MT), has completed a number of Direct View Led video wall (dvLED) in the Monterrey International Airport in Apodaca (Nuevo León – Mexico). These are part of a remodeling project, to be carried out over several years, to transform the airport into the second international hub next to Mexico City.
Monterrey International Airport is a hub for domestic and international flights for the city and the surrounding metropolitan area. Its terminals were upgraded and expanded in 2003 and 2007, But additional renovations are now underway to incorporate innovative audio-visual technology.
After two phases of installations have begun, the teams have incorporated their services and products to offer dvLED video walls of various sizes. In total, have been installed 29 Solutions in different areas of the airport, such as taxis, Main Entrances, Boarding gates, Check-in Rooms, Etc., to improve the airport experience.
dvLED Video Wall
Monterrey Airport needed to find a solution to provide an elevated orientation and communication experience in all lobbies, terminals and check-in points as part of a large-scale renovation project. The addition of large dvLED video walls allows for eye-catching and adaptable communication for travelers, even in the busiest areas.
The project for the installation of these video wall installations began in 2021, knowing that this would be one of the first airports in Mexico to incorporate state-of-the-art dvLED solutions. To carry it out, digital signage integrator POP MT contracted, Specialized in integration services for custom projects, on a large scale and with a wow factor (wow-factor), for installations.
POP MT acted as the central point of contact for all parties involved and took care of the design for each of the locations and Peerless-AV manufactured and supplied the mounting systems Seamless Kitted Series dvLED to withstand the Absen KL Led Screens 2.5 Chosen.
Many of the installations would be carried out at height, which meant the implementation of security plans, which included meticulously designed steel roof structures on which the Peerless-AV brackets would be attached.
“From our previous experience, we knew that any media supplied by Peerless-AV would provide a quick and easy installation with reliable, quality performance”, Says Gabriel Lopez, Director of Sales, POP MT. “However, There were a lot of building regulations and building considerations, so make careful site assessments and take vital action early on, And then collaborating on the installation steps of the entire assembly structure meant that everything would go smoothly when it came time to put the cabinets in place.".
Innovation is paramount
In the beginning, the airport planned to use large-format LCD screens for flight information, but in the end dvLED was opted for. Comparative data were presented at the Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte, known as OMA, The airport operator, and it was decided that dvLED would provide the reliability and longevity needed in an airport environment 24/7, while offering an eye-catching image, Brilliant and excellent quality.
Absen was chosen for its proven capabilities in this type of facility. The pixel pitch of KL LED screens 2.5 By Absen, it provides the highest resolution and contrast for a better viewing experience of all flight information. This allows video walls to be visible when placed at height, but also readable for a closer look at boarding information.
Each installation was intended to be flat against a wall or hung from the ceiling, depending on placement and intended use. The Seamless Kitted Series dvLED mounting systems were the ideal solution and were configured according to the unique layout and size of each video wall. The versatile design and ease of mounting the stand also ensure effective integration, regardless of the location of the screens.
A two-phase installation
Installation began in November 2022, with the first phase already completed and the second, Still ongoing, will be completed by the end of the year.
The first phase of the project included 18 facilities. A 5.76 cm tile video wall has been installed in the taxi area×3,84 meters and at the entrance to the airport terminal, two solutions attached to the roof have been installed.
A video wall of 12.16 has been placed×2,4 meters in each main lobby, North & South. At the boarding gates there are seven landscapes of 2×2 (1,28×0,096 metre) and in the kiosks in the main lobbies, six were added, vertically, from 2×2, To display flight information.
The Second Phase, Still ongoing, includes eight ultra-wide dvLED video wall installations at check-in counters that will exceed wow factor expectations. These are two mosaics of 42×4 (26,88×1,92 metre), Two tiles of 45×4 (28,8 x1.92 meters) and four mosaics of 49×4 (31,36×1,92 metre). In addition, Three of 9 have been installed×8 (5,76×3,84 metre) in the airport's new entrance halls.
The Seamless Kitted Series dvLED mounting system allowed for simple and efficient installation, while achieving a seamless flat finish. The lightweight frame of the mount, Display adapters and fit, especially on the Z-axis (depth), have made it possible to precisely align each cabinet.
“Product Availability, the easy handling and expert support helped us deliver this project that is still underway and will be a benchmark for our business in Mexico for many years to come.", says Lopez.
“With the introduction of the new dvLED Seamless Kitted Series universal mounting system, Storage and shipping will be even easier, as this solution is shipped in a single box, facilitating faster delivery and shorter lead time to customers”, explains Carlos Rodriguez, by Peerless-AV Latin America. “The universal design eliminates the need for dedicated adapters and also makes it much more reconfigurable for on-site changeovers, which is a boon for ongoing installations at the airport.”
Looking to the future
The result is a seamless, flawless look. The Peerless-AV mounting system allowed each video wall to achieve a sleek finish, avoiding any visible lines. All screens in the first phase are operational with a mix of flight information and advertising content that excites customers passing through the terminals and achieves the desired modernized look throughout Monterrey International Airport.
The results not only add an elevated and unprecedented atmosphere to the airport, they also allow for easy adaptability, Quick updates and messages for all travelers, Saving airport operators time and money.
The airport has future plans to take advantage of waiting passengers, receptive and outbound selling space to retail advertisers and launching eye-catching, creative campaigns across the digital signage network.
“We are very proud of the results of the installations so far”, Carlos Rodriguez said. “With the first phase of the facility complete and fully operational for travelers to use, we are excited to continue collaborating with POP MT and the installation teams to finish the second phase of the project, delivering a complete overhaul of the digital signage system for Monterrey International Airport that will bring them admiration and praise from their peers in Latin America and the wider global AV industry.”
