Digico en el Teatro de la Ópera Cantonesa de Guangzhou

The Cantonese Opera House in Guangzhou (GOH) has launched two new spaces in this venue built in 1953: the Hung Sin-nui Theatre (equipped with a console Digico SD5) and the Red Bean Hall (smaller, equipped with a Quantum 338).

The building is located in the Yuexiu district, in Guangzhou City, and has a total area of about 40.000 square meters, including a Grand Theatre of 1.200 Locations, a theatre of 500 seats and three movie theaters of 60 Locations.

In recent years, the Cantonese Opera House in Guangzhou (GOH) has made artistic innovations based on science and technology, and has cooperated with several manufacturers to explore the Construction of the5G Smart Theatre. More than 300 online performances and activities using 5G technology, Virtual reality and augmented reality, bringing this ancient art form to a modern audience. GOH hosted the inaugural event of the Chinese Culture Festival from June to October 2024 and, in the future, will continue to strive to be the representation of Chinese culture to rank among the world's first-class theaters.

DiGiCo's distributor in China, RACPRO, installed the SD5 at the Hung Sin-nui Theatre. This space was built in honor of the famous Cantonese opera artist Hung Sin-nui who, in 2009, was awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award at Chinese Opera.

The SD5 is equipped with 37 Physical faders on the surface of the console, and three high-resolution LCD touch screens of 15", that can display information such as the, processing and equalization of 253 canals. Located in the control cabin, at the back of the stalls, the low profile of the DiGiCo SD5 ensures good sight lines and the larger mixing surface allows easy access to all channels.

Red Bean Hall

In the Red Bean Room (Red Bean Hall), The audio team chose to install the DiGiCo Quantum 338 as the main mixing console, also located in a booth at the end of the stalls. The Quantum 338 Has 128 input channels and 64 departure buses. Provides additional channel processing for the main output and matrix, bringing more powerful processing capabilities and extremely flexible workflows. GOH believes that the choice of the Quantum 338 for the Sala Red Bean will promote the development of the performing arts in a more refined and systematic way.

GOH's investment in artists includes the development of artistic training courses, The first children's choir affiliated with a theatre, The first children's ballet group, The First Youth Music Band and the First Youth String Orchestra, all of them with a high professional level. It has also created the unique "Classroom × Stage" mode of artistic training to cultivate artistic talents, training more than 19.079 Young artists and building the "Arts Boost", A platform for the exchange and learning of arts management professionals to ensure a strong pool of future talent.
