Now, thanks to one Genelec audio installation, Visitors can experience the magic and excitement of this football club. Combining immersive soundscapes with cutting-edge sound technology, The new configuration highlights the roar of the crowd and its essence.
Featuring its iconic skull and crossbones logo, el FC St. Pauli is famous for his commitment to social activism. The Hamburg-based team achieved promotion to the German Bundesliga last season and has built a reputation that attracts a loyal following that extends far beyond Germany's borders..
Founded in 1910, el FC St. Pauli began as a football club that became a symbol of rebellion and inclusion. During the years 1980 y 1990, He was closely linked to the Hamburg countercultural movement, embracing progressive ideals that resonated with the city's working class roots.
“FC St fans. Pauli are known for their unwavering loyalty and passionate support”, explains Dennis Bayer, a renowned audio producer, engineer and supporter of FC St. Pauli from Hamburg, responsible for the new sound installation. “An authentic representation of their culture and connection to the team was essential for this project”.
This spirit extends beyond the playing field, turning the club into an icon of diversity, equality and community activism. Museum at Millerntor Stadium seeks to encapsulate this legacy, and its latest audio update is a key part of achieving that goal. Bajer took on the challenge of creating, design, produce and integrate an audio experience that immerses visitors in the fervor of a Millerntor match.
In close collaboration with Christopher Radke of the museum, Bajer sought to complement the visual narrative with an equally impressive auditory dimension. The highlight of the installation is its ability to evoke the emotional intensity of the key moments of the St. Pauli.
“We use the surround mix of the Bundesliga host station, Sportcast, and we add songs, applause and effects to reproduce the stadium atmosphere”, clarifies Bajer. “The goal was to transport visitors to those core memories and make them feel part of the journey.”.
Apostando por Genelec
The key to the success of the project was the selection of the speakers 8010 de Genelec.
Para Bajar, the choice was clear. “I've known Genelec for years and knew its compact size and unmatched clarity would be perfect for the museum setup”. The minimalist profile of the 8010 allowed them to integrate perfectly with the museum's projection, ensuring images remained the focus while delivering powerful, transparent sound.
Another important consideration was the reliability of Genelec performance.. “He knew from experience that his speakers would faithfully reproduce the atmosphere of the Millerntor stadium, even in the compact space of the museum”, Bajer points out..
In combination with a subwoofer RCF S5012 and one interfaz Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, The system offers a mix 7.1 that captures every nuance of the fans' chants, the roars of the crowd and the intensity of game day.
The original plan included a configuration 7.1.2, but the placement of the speakers on the ceiling had to be adjusted due to the large projection of the museum.
“Instead of seeing it as an inconvenience, We take advantage of the natural acoustics of the room to deepen the feeling of immersion”, Bajer adds.. “Careful placement and production adjustments ensured the system met its objectives. The result is an installation that exceeds expectations. Visitors are greeted with a soundscape that reflects the heart and soul of FC St. Pauli”.
The museum's new audio installation invites fans and visitors to relive unforgettable moments while discovering what makes this club different. As Bajer concludes: “This project wasn't just about sound, It was about capturing the essence of what FC St represents.. Pauli. And that's something really special.".
