Two important production and reception rooms for shows, Odeon and Spiegel, located in the regional epicenter of Zwolle (Netherlands), have chosen the Robe Moving Lights as a vital element in your transition to Led lighting.
In this way, have acquired six moving heads T1 Profiles, 18 Painte Profiles, 24 LEDBeam 350 and 24 LEDBeam FWQ 150 Wash, all supplied by Controllux, Robe dealer in Benelux.
Conversations about transitioning to LED began three years ago, and the technical head of the Zwolle Theatre, Dennis Bouwhuis, and the head of lighting, Jan Willem Jansen, explain that, since they already had some old Robe moving lights (ColorWash 250 and ColorSpot 700), They had known the brand for a long time and enjoyed its reliability.
The Zwolle theatre dates back to 1869 and also has the Hanzestrohm room (known as the “Small Room”) with the capacity to 457 people, one of the oldest rooms in the Bombonera-style theatre in the Netherlands, A historic space of representation.
Jan Willem and his team, which includes Antonello Taranto and Kathy Veldman, They have also been in charge of all the technical aspects of two other spaces in the original building: the Black Box Theatre, with the capacity to 219 people, and the Study, with the capacity to 72 Theatre lovers.
The Great Room, Spiegel, is located elsewhere, Across town. It was built in 2004 and officially inaugurated in 2006 by Queen Beatrix to host larger, more contemporary productions, with the capacity to 960 people.
These rooms are in the process of changing to LED lighting. All of them receive and produce shows and, in recent years, have become famous for meeting every new artist's production needs. Although they already knew Robe, the lighting department considered other Led options from different manufacturers, culminating in a selection of the products shortlisted at the Spiegel.
“The productions that are carried out in our buildings of different sizes are diverse, so we needed the most versatile luminaires available that met several criteria”, explained Jan Willem.
Since the companies that arrive are usually interested in using their lighting systems, they needed good representation, and that is why all these luminaires were selected. “These four types of Robe products were the clear winners in the selection”, Confirms.
Las LEDBeam 350 and 150 They were chosen for their great versatility, and the Paintes were a good solution for both large and small rooms, thanks to its lightness, luminosity, Quiet and low energy consumption.
Antonello points out that, since the Small Room is a very cozy space, Luminaires with low ambient noise were a must. "We mark separate wish lists with different parameters, some of which overlapped, related to all spaces".
They quickly realized that Painte would also work well as a conventional spotlight and for main lighting: "It basically adapted to each space according to the needs!”, Antonello said, highlighting that short changeover times also influenced decisions, Helping with quick assembly, simple and efficient shows.
The first luminaires to be updated were those on stage, says Jan Willem, but as for the front lighting, the T1 Profile with its multispectral light source was the right one.
"The T1 profiles completed the luminaire set. We think that, together with Paintes, LEDBeam 350 and LEDBeam 150 FQW with output Fresnel Wash, they completed the equation and would work elegantly and practically together.", comments Jan Willem.
The new Robe luminaires are moved between the four venues. Currently, some conventional luminaires are still used in all spaces, But this will soon change.
The Paintes are used in the Small Room and the Spiegel; LEDWash 350 have been installed in the Spiegel; LEDBeam 150 are located in the main building, and T1 at the Spiegel/Sala Grande. The combinations change every week depending on the programming of the different shows and their respective production needs.
The Zwolle Theatre produces around 300 Annual shows and events, operating with at least one or more of its spaces in use throughout the year, so it's a busy, hectic environment where there's always something new.
Production types range from purely theatrical shows such as drama and dance to comedy, Musical, Music and opera concerts, as well as corporate events, business and industrial.
