Leyard offers an interactive visual journey in Hans Memling's exhibition
A large NEV LED video screen Leyard, with pixel pitch 1,9 mm and 800 Brightness nits, allows visitors to explore in extraordinary detail the works of the painter Hans Memling, in this museum in Bruges (Netherlands).
The historical Sint-Janshospitaal Museum of Bruges offers an innovative Digital Experience that allows visitors to learn about the life and work of Hans Memling, Flemish painter of Dutch history, in the innovative exposition Closer to Memling.
Inaugurated at the end of last year, This exhibition is configured as a Interactive audiovisual journey, using the latest technology of Leyard LED Screens to create an immersive environment in the Medieval Museum Attic.
The project is based on a collaboration between Musea Brugge and the company specializing in digital experiences Ocular, who has developed the concept and design of the facility, together with other creative partners.
After the success of other digital exhibitions in this museum, Ocular was tasked with transforming the building's historic attic into an attractive and accessible space that would appeal to visitors of all ages.
"In the 'brainstorming' sessions with the client, We define the design, the content and interactive elements," he explains Nicolas Vanden Avenne, founder and CEO of Ocular-. We created a complete test facility where both adults and children were able to test the applications to ensure a smooth deployment.".
With this approach, Vanden Avenne adds that "we were looking for a way to bring the story of the artist Hans Memling closer in an accessible way. It was important to encourage people of all ages to go up to the attic of the museum to learn more about the life of this painter".
The heart of the exhibition is an impressive Leyard NEV1.9 Led Video Screen, from 4.5×4,5 metre, allowing visitors to explore Memling's masterpieces in extraordinary detail, while preserving the historic integrity of the building, eight hundred years old.
Robin van der Heiden, field sales manager at Leyard Europe, highlights the technological advantages of the installed system: "Our NEV series features Very large cabinets, making it easy to install and create large-format displays, such as those we have developed for this project. We use a pixel pitch of 1,9 mm so that visitors can get very close".
The installed Leyard NEV display also offers a Brightness of 800 Nits, providing a sharp large-format image with vivid colors. In this room it was not possible to use projection solutions, so the Led technology of this manufacturer, particularly bright, was the ideal choice for this project.
In addition, The exhibition highlights how cultural institutions can use advanced display technology to make a meaningful connection between historical art and contemporary audiences.
"The biggest challenge was to integrate the hardware as discreetly as possible into the monumental attic," says Vanden Avenne. Leyard's LED display immediately catches the eye, but it does not interfere with the authentic elements. Everything has been installed with great care and blends seamlessly into the room.".
The combination of music, interaction, relaxation zones and the large Led screen" create a Truly engaging learning environment, especially for a Young audience, An important target group we want to reach, Says Katrien Steelandt, E-Culture Coordinator at Musea Brugge.
As a technological partner of the project, Steelandt highlights that "Ocular has been by our side from the beginning to the end of the installation and beyond. When you have a bold idea that involves technology, is capable of turning it into a Smart technical solution and in a pleasant experience, And that makes working with them really great.".
This is also pointed out by Van der Heiden: “Closer to Menling impressively demonstrates what can be achieved when technology providers and creative partners work together effectively. Thanks to the Closely with Ocular from the first planning phase, we were able to adapt our NEV1.9 LED solution specifically to this unique historic space. This collaborative approach allowed us to fully meet both the technical challenges and the creative vision of the museum”.
